Jason and I went over his health history and the following questions and concerns were discussed
> Was he diagnosed and being treated for CHD
> What kind of medications is he taking to control his CHD
> What was his main concern with his condition
Jason is currently under the care of a physician and is seen regularly for check ups. He is taking an initiative to change his lifestyle and has started to watch his eating habits, and is trying to cut back on the smoking. He’s taking up yoga to help maintain his stress levels, and is currently taking Ziac to keep his blood pressure regulated. Jason’s main concern is his fatigue, so he’s taking up more physical activities to get him in better shape.
Appointment Planning
morning appointments work best
If anxiety levels are high I will offer nitrous oxide to calm the patient
Client Positioning
Blood pressure 125/80, no contraindications to treatment
Warn the patient the chair only has one speed
Keep patient in supine position
Roll up two towels for patients neck
check in with patient making sure he’s always comfortable, or seeing there’s any adjustments needing to be made to position
Safety Precautions
There are no caution when using products or anesthesia
Continue to monitor BP, if raises above then normal then procedure will be continued at a later date
Patient Recommendations/OHI
After showing proper brushing techniques, encourage patient that he has the ability to change the condition of his mouth
Praise patient on taking the proper steps to improve his health
Keep encouraging the patient to quit smoking and start smoking sesation
Personal Reflection
I chose to do this study on CHD because it is a very widely known disease that affects many people. I’m sure in my career I will be dealing with many patients that suffer from this disease as well as the other diseases related to CHD. What intrigued me the most about this topic was the dangers related to it. The severity can range from have many symptoms to having none at all. It definitely made me think about all the things we can do to our bodies without thinking about what could be going on inside that we don’t know about. It is very important to keep ourselves healthy and to go to the doctor regularly to catch things that could be hidden that we don’t know about.
